PRD will be held on the 23rd and 24th of November 2020, aiming to provide an overview on the progress of the FCH JU and European Commission Agencies funded projects related to Fuel Cells and Hydrogen.

David was a senior principal scientist at Johnson Matthey and a valued partner in the BIONICO project and will be deeply missed. He was an expert in catalysis and in particular on cleaner energy applications. Our thoughts are with his family, friends and colleagues.

BIONICO consortium built one of the world largest membrane reactor unit for biogas-to-hydrogen conversion and tested it for several days at ICI’s facilities, verifying the capability of the system to produce nearly pure hydrogen. 

BIONICO has been a very important project for the development of Membrane Reactors The experience gained in this  years is of inestimable value for further  developing the  technologies related to membrane reactors. The results of BIONICO have been used as bases for the further scale up of the project at higher TRL levels: this year two large projects on membranes and membrane reactors have been granted INNOMEM and MACBETH.

]]> BIONICO prototype start-up http://www.bionicoproject.eu/archives/1090 Tue, 05 Nov 2019 11:27:27 +0000 http://www.bionicoproject.eu/?p=1090 ]]> Finally BIONICO prototype is ready for producing pure hydrogen from biogas. All the system components (Balance of plant) were fully integrated with the reactor and the control system was checked.

Now the prototype is heating-up to 400 °C with an operating pressure of at least 8 bar. Reaction tests with biogas, steam and air will start next days. Stay tuned!

The prototype will be filled with the catalyst for hydrogen production and it will be integrated in the balance of plant.
